The YLWC began giving scholarships in 1961 – 55 years ago! It is quite a tradition and I am pleased to announce the 2015-2016 recipients are: Corina Deiters, YLHS; Matthew Caballero, Parkview School; Catherine Han, YLHS; Sierra Stevens, YLHS; and Hannah Lentz, El Dorado High School, are the academic winners. Cailyn Ware, YLHS, is our vocational scholarship winner. These students will be acknowledged and receive their checks at the awards ceremony on May 5, 2016.

Special Award - $100:

The club gave a special award to local Spelling Bee winner, Samuel Littrell 14 years old, from Kraemer Middle School.He earned his spot among the 285 spellers from around the United States after winning the Orange County Spelling Bee in February.Samuel represented Orange County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in Washington, DC.



 

 




The awards ceremony evening was a wonderful culmination of all the hard work of the Yorba Linda Woman’s Club.  The club members work very hard at planning, coordinating, advertising, etc. to pull off these successful events so that we can give back to our community and young students through scholarships and awards.  Your support is truly appreciated.

Yorba Linda Woman’s Club ~ 2016 Scholarships & Awards


SCHOLARSHIPS:

In 1961, the Yorba Linda Woman's Club gave their first scholarships by awarding two local students $50 each. This year five judges carefully reviewed over 50 applications from students who reside in the Placentia Yorba Linda School District. Six students were selected based on both their outstanding personal and scholastic achievements and their service to others. These students are ambitious role models who exemplify the values of the Yorba Linda Woman's Club.

This year, through our profits of fundraising including our Fall and Spring Craft Faires, we awarded six $2,000 academic & vocational scholarships and $5,000 in other art award prizes to the following:

$2,000 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS:

Announcement of Scholarship Winners!

2015-2016

The Yorba Linda Woman’s Club will again be offering multiple $2000.00 academic scholarships and a $2000.00 vocational scholarship to qualified students from the graduating class of 2017. All applicants must reside in the zip codes within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Check our website for updated application information.
 
To qualify, academic students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher; the vocational students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
